Cancun Get Away - Feb 28, Mar 1 & 2
I earned a trip for Eric and I from selling candles to go to Cancun. It was very fun and we enjoyed being away together.
We stayed at an "all-inclusive" hotel which means you don't need your wallet for anything! We had to wear writsbands all week but we got used to it. We loved getting our Virgin Pina Colada and Banana Daquiries -- what a treat!
We took a special tour to Chichen-Itza to see the Mayan Ruins there. We had been to Tu-lum the previous year on our Cruise and wanted to see something new. Below is the Temple of 1,000 Warriors.
This is the largest pyramid at Chichen-Itza. We were thinking we were going to be able to climb this ruin, but they stopped doing it several years ago to help preserve it.
Eric and I did climb this smaller Observatory and I decided it was a good thing the pyrimid was closed. The steps were so uneven and awkward to climb . . . I would have been sore afterwards for a month!
It was sooooo hot at the ruins. The sun in Cancun is very intense. We were grateful there were lots of trees to seek shade.
Back at the resort we got to see Mayan dancers perform and at the end they invited us up for pictures. It was constantly windy at the resort so it was no use styling your hair.
