Melissa Erickson (one of my young women) and my dear friend, Diane's daughter got married on Saturday, July 17th. It was so fun to be apart of all the planning and festivities. They were sealed in the San Diego Temple and then had their reception next door at the LaJolla Hyatt. It was amazing!!! Diane couldn't have done anything better -- it was just perfect!

I was asked to do the wedding DVD -- which ended up being just under 15 minutes long. It was entitled; "Now, Then and Forever" as it showed a picture of her in the past, then him, then an engagement photo. We ended the show with the music from Enchanted, the song "Ever Ever After" by Carrie Underwood with pictures of the temple. It was awesome!!! (Diane helped me a ton with it so I can't take all the credit!) Everyone in attendance watched it as a group as it was part of the evening's events.

The dessert cakes are pictured in an earlier post. They were amazing and delicious. Diane was prepared with to-go boxes so all the guests got to take a slice or two home as well.

We sent the happy couple off with a sparkler send-off which was so fun. Just wish the bride and groom didn't run through so fast --- I sure hope their photographer got some great shots. Can't wait to see!!

I helped give Melissa's shower with Becky Smith. It was a lemon theme and we played a cute "left-right" game that I wrote and everyone received "lemon" type of gifts to take home. It was a beautiful shower!

This is the invitation we did. It turned out so cute . . . (of course I needed help from my niece Amy as I'm not that good yet in Photoshop!) I love getting them printed out at Costco/Sams!

She got so many nice things --- so fun to help these young girls set up their new homes!

Finally -- Yogurt!

On Saturday, April 3rd we had an employee training with our Taylor Machine rep. We were crazy busy working on last minute details of getting the shop to open up.

Our rep helped us start up the machines and Madison got to do the honors of pouring in the very first container of yogurt -- exciting!! Then just 8 minutes later, she got to dispense our first cup of delicious "Funilla Vanilla" and take the first bite too!

Now if we could just get our Health inspection passed, we can start selling it!

My nephew David and his new wife Jen, and their ten kids were on their way to San Diego for Spring Break. They were able to stop by and sample our first batch of yogurt. We had some fresh fruit for them to put on top and everyone loved it! (They stopped back by on their way out of town on Friday after a week of playing in sunny So. CA ....although they did get rain! Better than snow . . . right?)

My sister's family, the Keller's live in Corona and stopped by many times to help us out. We put Terry's electrical skills to great use as we forgot just a few things. (THANKS TERRY!!)

Our goal was to open on April 1st -- but the joke was obviously on us as the Heath Inspector had other plans. We did open however on Monday, April 5th after Eric dealt with her 14 picky things to fix!

Eric handled all the construction and dealt with all the issues that normally arise. The Health Dept. and the Building Dept. were difficult to work with which is common from what we hear -- but Corona is known for being espeically difficult. After weeks of resistence and issues, Eric went and joined the Corona Chamber of Commerce. After hearing our story, many city officials offerred to step in and help. Two days later, we had our permits!
We brought the kids into see the store on Madison's birthday. They were so excited to see everything and can't wait to work here. (We'll see how long that lasts!!)

Eventhough our tile installers did the same wall at the Murrieta Store, they weren't careful of the grid pattern that can easily develop. They had to come back, tear out chuncks of rock and reset pieces to make it look better.

A New (Ad)VENTURE

In July 0f last year, Eric was layed off from Dal-Tile after being an outside sales rep for 15 years. With the struggling economy we can't say we didn't expect it -- but it is still hard to have it happen to you. After months of fasting and praying we decided to open a Self Serve Yogurt store in Corona. (There are too many were we live so we searched for the best location and found it at the 15 freeway and Hidden Valley Parkway - just one exit north/east of the 91). We signed our lease agreement in January.

We partnered with some friends of Eric's who opened a FroYoLand in Murrieta last June. They were a great help and are excited to see their dream expand to FroYoLand2 - or Froyland - Corona.

We hung up our COMING SOON banner to let everyone know we were coming -- and to let future competitors know as well!

Before us, the building was a Curves so we had some wild graphics to look at on the walls during our construction. Eric handled everything and took all the issues in stride as he worked and worked.

It was fun to occasionally go in and see the progress. He took pictures constantly and brought them home for the family to see which we forwarded to Megan in Arizona.

While Megan was home for her Spring Break we got a visit from the Crooks who were on their way from home from spending time at Disneyland. Ruth Ann & Dennis were down two weeks earlier so Mom got to see a lot of her kids during her birthday month! (Sorry, I don't have any pictures of them!) Happy 86th Birthday Mom!

Colonial Day!!!

Cole Canyon celebrates Colonial Day every year. It's a big deal for all the 5th graders. The kids all dress up in period clothing and spend the day doing activites like candle dipping, quilting, dancing, (remember the Virginia Wheel??), soap making, etiquette, and many more activities. My sweet friend Amy, made Madison her dress -- she LOVED IT!!

Megan's College Room

Megan was able to find a place to live and moved out from our cousin's (The Daley's) for her second semester of college at EA. She is in a house with four other girls. Three are upstairs and two are down. This is Megan's basement room - She has concrete walls so it makes it challenging to decorate. I think she did a great job! She is close to campus and now walks everywhere ... weather permitting. She is taking her CNA course this semester which keeps her very busy. I think she is taking like 19 units -- crazy!

My nephew David got married on January 8th, 2010. This is their second marriage and they both have 5 kids, so they are now known as "Dave & Jen + 10!" At the very last minute, Mom, Della, Megan and I dashed up to Utah for the wedding since the weather was clean. We left on Thursday and came home on Sunday after spending Saturday in Las Vegas with the Leishman's. Megan didn't go back to college from her winter break until the 12th so this gave us a fun trip up to see family.

Christmas Day 2009!

With Megan away at college, it's been fun having all our kids under one roof! Christmas day was full of surprises!

He came with a year's supply of food, dog training, toys, kennel and a bed!

Thanksgiving in Thatcher!

Megan only had four days off for Thanksgiving so we decided to come to Thatcher to see her. The Daley's had a lot going on but still opened their doors to us. We had a blast being together as a family and hanging out. After Thanksgiving meal we went out to their property and shot claw pigeons and rode ATVs. Their son Derek has his mission farewell while we were there which was an added bonus.

Madison participated in Cole Canyon's Got Talent through her VAPA Club. They danced to THRILLER at four different performances. It was a lot of fun and Mom came and helped out ratting hair --- Madison loved it. (Can't you hear the song playing in your head?)

Mesa High School Elections!

Brandon switched High Schools from Murrieta Valley to Murrieta Mesa -- a brand new campus that was open to Freshman and Sophomores. He wanted to run for USB President (United Student Body) so we went all out for the Nominating Convention. This was all a new experience for our family and Brandon did a great job with his speech and his campaign. He teamed up with Connor Jaegar, a freshman who is also LDS and they both won! Madison got to be a Renassance Princess for Trick or Treat thanks to my dear friend Amy Rutledge who offered to make her a costume! Wow! How do I rate having such a friend?? Madison got to wear it to her friend Bailey's annual Halloween Party, Trunk or Treat and Trick or Treating! Jason was a Fat Ref for the party and decided to me more comfortable in his football unifrom for Trunk or Treat and Trick or Treating!

For Jason's 12th Birthday he had a gun party. Dave Bowler agreed to take the boys out to his shooting range and teach the boys about gun safety and let them shoot about 8 different types of guns. Wow! Did these boys have a blast! The perfect party for Jason . . . although now he is all about guns, wants one for Christmas and wants to go on the deer hunt next year! Dad couldn't be happier!

THATCHER, AZ

We took our first born to college! She decided to attend Eastern Arizona in Thatcher Arizona. Eric's cousin Babette & Roger Daley live there and Megan was able to stay with their family her first semester until she met some friends to room with. We took two cars out so Megan would have wheels. (We were a little nervous about her car making the trip as it is 15 years old --- it did great!) While there we went to Lake Roosevelt near Globe and boated and skied. We also went to the cemetery to decorate the grave site of Madison & Mckenzie Rhoton - Babette and Roger's first grandbabies who passed away shortly after birth a year ago. Thatcher is also getting a new temple which will be opened in the Spring of 2010. It was fun to see the progress just in the few short days we were here. It was hard leaving Megan ---- but what a blessing to have family in Thatcher! We love the Daley's!!! Our baby's growing up!!!

Day 8 - Family Photos & Heading for Home

Wow! What a week!! It took a lot to blog it all but felt it important since we did so many things, had an amazing time and were able to see family and extended family on both sides of the family tree.

We were debating on whether we should head for home on Sunday or MOnday concenred with Vegas traffic and all. Eric felt like we needed to get back so we thought it we left Springville at 1pm that we would hopefully miss the bulk of the traffic between Vegas and Barstow and get home around 10pm. Well, close, we got home at 11pm. We did hit traffic in spots --- and was grateful it didn't last too long. We figure an hour total in delays.

We were exhausted -- especially Eric as he drove! We sure enjoyed ourselves and appreciate the hospitality we received from our Springville families. My sister Diane lives 200 steps from Ruth Ann so it was so fun to see her and her family as well.

Eric nicknamed these two cuties Jam & Jelly. Brenna on the left is Jelly and Abby is Jam!

Madison sure enjoyed playing with the girls and hanging out at the Crook's house. Here's my neice Debra along with the girls. (Thanks again for the Chex Mix Deb!!!)

The Leishman's have been on the go and have lots of changes in store for them. They are leaving Tuesday for a much needed two week vacation in Hawaii. We look forward to them living in Las Vegas soon!

Day 7 - Temple Sealing, Oquirrh Temple Open House & Carlie & Seth's Reception

We attended Carlie & Seth's 1pm sealing at the Jordan River temple and then went to lunch with the Justice Family at Cafe Rio. (loved it!!) Megan was with us and my neice Wendy brought up Brandon, Jason and Madison on her way to SLC. This was great -- thanks Wendy!!

As a family we attended the Oquirrh Temple Open House which was a-mazing! South Jordan is the only city in the world that has TWO LDS Temples. So cool -- and Joni and Kenneth live right between the two of them. It was very easy to hit the Open House at 5:40 before attending their 7:30 reception. Great planning!! (patting myself on the back here!!)

Day 6 - Jordan River Temple Endowment & Wedding Dinner at the Joseph Smith Building

Today, Eric and I had to be out the door by 7:30 am to make it up to the Jordan River Temple for a 9:20 session. We were concerned with traffic and being a Friday and thanks to a lot of 10/80 schedules it wasn't bad. We made it in plenty of time and enjoyed being in the endowment session for Carlie (Eric's cousin Kenneth's daughter) endowment. Eric and I were asked to be the witness couple.

After the session, Eric ended up going over to spend some time with Kenneth and I drove back to Springville as Megan had a hair appointment. Eric was later dropped off and together we drove up to SLC for the wedding dinner at the Joseph Smith Building. We arrived at 6pm only to find NO parking at the JSB and turns out there was a huge performance in the conference center by the Choir so temple square was a mad house. No parking at the conference center because of this event which forced us to be about 4 blocks west of the JSB. We had to walk forever -- as Utah blocks are huge and it was over 100 outside. By the time we got there it was 6:45ish and there were a few others who had the same issues. We were not happy campers but we did start to feel better in the air conditioned room, with food in our stomachs and then got to visit with family members. Yeah!!!

We left about the same time the concert got out so we got to fight more traffic. We originally thought we'd come up to Temple Square on Sunday to see the Spoken Word performance in the Conference Center. But after seeing all the construction on temple square and all the parking issues, we opted not for this trip.

Day 5 - Golf, BYU Football Tour, Bridal Viel Falls, Cabella's & Dinner with the Maughan's

At golf, (yes, this is his fourth round for the week), Eric met a young man named Cort who is from Temecula. Turns out he works for BYU Football in their logistics department while attending BYU. He played the back 9 with them and took a liking to Jason. He invited us to take a tour of the BYU Football Athletics Facility - a rare opporunity. We saw all kinds of BYU football memorbilia, coaches offices, team rooms, work out facility, taping areas, locker room, etc. Jason and Eric were in heaven -- and the girls seemed to enjoy it too!
Below is a special granite rock that certain team members get to chisel on whenever they do something great on or off the field that Coach Mendenhall set up. Pretty cool!

BRIDAL VIEL FALLS - After the tour, we headed up Provo Canyon to see Bridal Veil Falls which normally aren't this big this time of year. It was over 100 degrees but we enjoyed walking up to see the falls along the Provo River. After today --- Eric is thinking more and more what a great place Utah is to live (play). He wished he brought his kayak.

Day 4 - Wednesday - More Golf, Hank's Visit &Blog Makeover

Eric and Jason went golfing at Hobble Creek this morning. My neice, Amy came out to visit with her two boys, Seth and Spencer. Madison is holding happy Spencer below. My neice Janna came out today as well and spent some time trying to teach my how to use Photoshop Essentials -- an unopened Christmas gift of mine at home. She gave my blog a makeover -- I love it! Gotta love the name my sister Diane came up with -- Schauers' Forecast! Get it???

Day 3 - Tuesday - Harrison's Hideaway

Eric got up early and played golf at Thanksgiving Point with his cousins Mike Maughan. He got home around noon and we then loaded up and headed out to their property which is 45 minutes away. The kids got to ride ATVs and had a ball. I got to relax, visit and read which was wonderful. Talmage got to come along to Grandma & Grandpa's property and loved it. We roasted hot dogs for dinner and had yummy smores. It has been really hot and today was supposed to be the coolest day of the week and it was wonderful! The weather was perfect and everyone enjoyed the Harrison's Hideaway!

Jason and Talmage loved being able to keep the fire going --- what 11 year old boy doesn't? Jason was in heaven!

Utah Trip Day 2 - EFY & Seven Peaks

Eric got up early and played golf at Hobble Creek which is just up the canyon from the Harrison's house. I got to take Brandon and Caden to EFY which by the way -- is about a two hour process. Caden discovered he had forgotten to pack shirts, so we quickly washed the only one he brought, new he would be getting an EFY shirt to wear and ran to Kohls to grab him another. His Dad would be coming up on Wednesday for business and would bring him more. Thankfully, Ruth Ann came along as she was needing to drop off a girl who had stayed the night with them at Diving Camp which turned out to be at the same area for check in.

EFY check in didn't start until 11am and we arrived early at 10:30am to be in line just in time to still be under a shade awning. We were grateful! They were taking everyone's temperatures to make sure everyone was healthy as they didn't want to have swine flu issues. Once 11AM came around, we were all processed and headed to drop off Emily at her dorm in Heleman Halls. Brandon and Caden were up at Heritage Halls. We were feeling sorry for the kids who flew in or were just dropped off as they were hauling their luggage 4-6 blocks depending on their housing assignments. Once at heritage, we had to find where they were issuing keys and left the boys to get settled.

On the way home we stopped and bought discount tickets for Seven Peaks Water park and Eric took the kids for the afternoon. Dennis took along Jodi's kids as they were staying with them and the kids had a blast! Ruth Ann and I relaxed and visiting for the afternoon.

Utah Trip - Day 1 - Road Trip

Sunday - July 12th we left at 7AM and headed up to Springville, Utah. We took along Caden Morgan, Brandon's friend, who are both attending EFY together this week. We stopped at Cove Fort to stretch our legs and to learn a little Church History. It was so beautiful! We loved our little tour. We ended up arriving at the Harrison's around 6pm where Ruth Ann had a yummy dinner waiting for us.

Graduation Day for Megan!!!

Megan has been counting down the days til today! Finally . . . a graduate from Murrieta High School! We had lots of family in town (because of my brother's burial) which was very special to have so many loved ones together! It will be a day we will never forget!!!

Megan had over 730 in her graduation class. The ceremony lasted about two hours. Our friends the Laker's were kind enough to save us seats on the field so we had actual chairs to sit in! (THANK YOU PAM & PAUL!) Daddy and his little girl! ("Quick . . . take a picture and let's get out of here!!")

When we got home, we were treated with an amazing Taco feast that my friend Julie Dransfield coordinated with other friends (Pam, Marleen, Janet, Debbie, Jackie, Gina, & Kimbur). What would I do without amazing friends who have helped carried me these past couple days. Every meal on Friday and Saturday was provided by wards or friends. Amazing!! This meal gave me the energy boost I sorely needed to go onto Phase 3 of the day --- Meg's graduation party!

With 18 extended family and friends gathered around, Megan was asked by each of them a question about her life . . . which she answered. There were certain questions that had a present linked to it for her to open. After the questions, we would ring a bell and she then got to open the gift that was related to the question. The gift questions were:

What is your summertime job? Scanning pictures . . . and she opened a graduation picture frame.
What were you born without? Hair! and she opened a new blowdryer . . . (her's died months ago and we've been sharing!)
Where were you born? Wildomar - Inland Hospital. She then opened a sapphire birthstone ring.
How many times have your flown in an airplane? She answered 3. Then she opened up her lugguage. She had to open up each piece and in the third piece a helium ballon popped up tied to a sign that said . . . "One more time! Pack your bags . . . you're going to Utah with the Crook's and flying home!"

Megan was so surprised because she thought she was spending the next week babysitting the kids while I was at Girls Camp and then in Las Vegas. Instead, she gets to leave on Sunday and get out of town and spend some time with her Utah family.

This picture is hilarious! It toally dipicts her reaction. Keep in mind, Megan doesn't show very much emotion or excitement -- so this was precious! She was speechless and so excited! We totally surprised her!!! (Which believe me . . .is hard to do!)

Well, the fun didn't end there! Once she caught her breath, I told everyone we weren't done yet and we needed to load up in cars and go for a little drive. We headed up to La Cresta to our friends, the Morgan's home to view a surprise 17 minute DVD of Megan's life in their home theater. It was amazing!

Don's Graveside Service - Wildomar, CA

We had Don's burial at the Wildomar Cemetery where my Dad, and his son Aaron is buried. We used their pavillion for the graveside service. We were able to not involve a mortuary out here as Don's casket was delivered direct to the cemetery Friday before the graveside and the grave was closed before the services began at 11am.

Only a few chairs were set up but we are able to sit all around on the block wall that surrounds the pavillion. We counted over 60 in attendance. Dennis conducted, Kim re-read the eulogy, Della sang and then a few stood up for comments about Don inculding Don's boss for NUMEROUS years, Diane and Mom. It was wonderful. We ended this portion by singing Families Can Be Together Forever before going over to Dedicate the grave (which Dennis did).

Mom is consoling Allen "Daddy" Ahlman as his wife Slyvia isn't expected to live much longer. (In fact she passed away three days later). The Ahlman's have been long time family friends -- hense the nickname "Daddy Alhman" which Don, Ruth Ann, Diane, Della and Mary Alice often referred to him as.

(Pat's wife Cassandra and son Mathew were unable to attend).

The is a closeup of Don's retirement plaque (without the mounted plane below) that Don was able to see and appreciate just in time before he had to leave us. This plaque was sent all over the world to get over 86 signatures from co-workers. What a wonderful momento for 40+ years of service at Flying Tigers/Fed Ex. He sure loved his job!

Friday Breakfast - Della made waffles and my ward, Murrieta Hills, brought in juices, milk, fresh fruit, bagels and pull apart bread for 30 along with some yummy sugar cookies.

Friday Lunch - my Mom's ward, Wildomar, brought us fried chicken, salads and desserts for 50. We decided to have the luncheon at my house since we were expecting about 30 -- but when 60 showed up for the burial we were a little concerned. It all worked out and we felt people lingered around more and visited in our home as opposed to be at the church.

Friday Dinner - Graduation night for Megan! My friend Julie Dransfield saved the day by coordinating with more friends to bring us a Taco Feast! It was amazing! Thanks to Julie, Marleen, Janet, Pam, Debbie, Jackie, Kimbur, and Gina! We fed about 25 and I think they brough twice that much. So wonderful to have friends that know how to step in and make a difference. I love you guys!

Saturday Breakfast - Yogurt, Granola, fresh fruit, egg casserole, juices, and potatoes. My friends Becky Smith and Diane Erickson stepped to the plate and took care of us again. We went off our family travelling back to Prescott with full stomachs!

Harrison's stuck around until Monday morning and they helped us eat leftovers. It was an amazing time to be together as family and because of the help of so many . . . we were able to spend quality time together as we were spoiled with so many meals. We weren't exhausted from cooking that's for sure.

My heart is full of love and true examples of Christ-like service. My siblings were all impressed with all that you did. I need to strive to service others just as well as you served me.

Funeral Services for Donald M. Moore - Prescott, AZ

My eldest brother Don, passed away on Friday, June 5th. He was 62 years old (he was 16 years older than me). He was diagnosed with ALS otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease 18 months ago. He rapidily started deteriorating the end of May and asked that his son, Patrick who lives in Lancaster area and his daughter Kim who lives in Alaska join their daughter Kristy in Prescott. His continued to get worse and knew his time was short. He was able to say all the things he wanted and needed to before he left us. What a tender mercy!

My sister, Della, my Mom and I were able to do a last minute trip on May 30th-31st and was able to spend some quality time with him. He died just 5 days later. I will never forget the time we got to be at his hospital bedside - his Bishopric came to visit on Sunday just before we left to come back home. They offered to give him the sacrament which we were priviledged to be apart of. One of the most spiritual experiences of my life! What a gift!!!

Don retired from FedEx after 40 years of service. He retired March 1st and this retirement plaque was sent all over the world to get signatures from those he worked with. The plane is especially painted - half Flying Tigers and half FedEx. He worked for Flying Tigers from 20 years before FedEx took over. It arrived just in time for Don to see and enjoy it.

Carol's ward put on a wonderful luncheon full of comfort food (ham, funeral potaotes, green beans yum!!!) We all apprecatied it before we jumped in our cars and headed 6 hours home to California for the burial the next day.

Mom, Della, Carolyn, Me came with Eric and we also brought out Patrick who drove to Wildomar from Lancaster area. It was great being able to spend 6 hours in the car with Patrick and get to know our nephew better. (By the way, his mannerisms are just like his Dad's!)

I made a DVD of Don's life to be shown in a room next to the viewing. It is 10 minutes long only to be added too for a family keepsake. We also plan to show it out in California for the family that gathers for the graveside.

Don's casket was beautiful! It seemed to change colors depending on the light of the room it was in. It said GOING HOME on the inside of the lid and below you will see the birds soaring that was engraved all around the casket. Flying Home . . . just the way Don would want it.

Stagecoach 2009 - Indio

Brian scored us free tickets to get into Stagecoach - a two day country music festival. County acts like Miranda Lambert, Reba, Zac Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisely, Darius Rucker performed to name a few. We had a great time hanging out with our friends the Connors.Emily, Darby and Brandon
We took our canopy charis and hung blankets to help keep us in the shade. It worked -- no one got sunburned. There were about 70,000 people who came -- this is early in the day and it doesn't show the crowds well -- but it does show our view of the stage and big screens.

The evenings cooled down and since the concerts didn't end until 11pm we had to bundle up.

Madison and Jason made tents out of their blankets and hung out with their glow sticks.

We got these cool mister/spray pump bottles and the guys helped to keep the crowd cooled off.

The kids got to meet Lady Antebellum and get their autographs. They were really excited as we are big fans of their music.

Megan still recovering from her eye ulcer was not able to wear contacts lenses so glasses kept her in the shade as well.

Zion's Trek April 17-19th, 2009

Our Stake does Zion's Trek every four years. This is Eric's third time, I have done it twice, with Megan joining us the last time. This year, Brandon was able to go and Megan could have gone again, but we decided to head to Arizona for the Daley wedding.

These pictures give you an idea of how steep some of the trails were. These pictures came from our Stake photographer, he got a video clip of Brandon's family getting their handcart up this hill. He's supposed to send it to me so I can blog it.

Eric was asked to be on patrol on a horse. There were many in the Stake surprised he knew how to ride. He's on the 2nd horse back, his horse's name was Tuff and he's 16 1/2 hands tall. Eric said he was amazing!

The put the families into companies and they travelled together. There were 6 companies total and Eric rode between them to make sure everyone was doing all right.

The even formed the Mormon Battalion and the YM left the girls to push the wagons on their own . Luckily the PAs got to stay behind and help push.

Brandon LOVED the experience and his testimony was strengthened of what our ancestors had to sacrifice. He loved how everyone within the companies came to each other's aid to get their handcars the big hills.

Dani & Bryce Get Married

Megan, Jason, Madison and I drove to Mesa for Dani & Bryce's sealing. (Brandon and Eric had Zion's Trek with our Stake). We stayed at a Marriott nearby with the Daley family and had a great time. We arrived on Thursday and I was able to go through Dani's first temple session and then they were sealed Friday morning @ 10:30. We enjoyed a nice wedding luncheon and then came home on Saturday. Megan with her soon-to-be roommie, Bri!

Tenaja Falls Hike

Brandon had to visit a National Forrest during spring break for a school assignment so we invited the Connor's family to go on a day hike so we headed up to Tenaja Falls. We had a great time. The weather was overcast and it was threatening to rain shower but it never did -- perfect weather for hiking!

Camping & Conference

We went up to the Morgan's property in La Cresta for Conference weekend camping out Friday, Saturday, Sunday and came home to our 15 minute drive on Monday. With water, electricity for hook-ups and a dumping station we were quite comfortable let alone all the ammenities they had for us to enjoy! Our trailer is on the far left, then the Morgan's, Vanden Brinks, and the Lucas. We enjoyed out little camping group and hope we can do it again before it gets too hot!

This beautiful patio has two refrigerators and a BBQ. We ended up setting up more tables and chairs to feed the group which ranged from 20-26.
Nicest campground facilities I've ever used!

Their pond provided tons of fishing for the kids. The sound of bullfrogs lulled us to sleep each night. The view of the valley below was breathtaking as well as the city lights at night.

The kids fished for hours on end and Eric was kept busy with a few tangled lines and needed to sometime help get a fish off the hook.

We hiked up the hill to the Morgan's house to watch conference. This is a view off their courtyard. These next two pictures I stole from Dianna's website as I didn't take one from the front. The house is built upshaped with a courtyard in the middle that showcases their breathtaking view.

They have a home theater that seats 21. The little kids enjoyed playing Conference Bingo. We enjoyed all the talks . . . and the music. Elder Holland's talk was my personal favorite along with the Prophet's. Can't wait to read my Ensign!

Madison Turns 10!

Brandon surprised Madison with a birthday banner hanging in her doorway so he would be the 1st to wish her a Happy Birthday!

Jason made Madison a powerpoint presentation on why he loves his sister for her Birthday present.
Madison fell in love with this giant chick at Sams Club -- so it was at the top of her list. It has become her favorite TV pillow.

Madison had a friend party on the 28th. Here are all her girlfriends, they had just finishted tracing themselves and coloring them in on our driveway with sidewalk chalk.

Look at this adorable banner Megan made! It ended up being 12' so we had to find a special place to hang it.
The table is all set and ready for our "unusual" dinner.

The girls loved making a mess with their food and odd utinsils.

Madison lucked out with getting bear claw salad tongs.

The girls all decorated their own cupcakes and then helped to make Madison's big Double Digit 10!

Madison's friend Karly gave her a pool themed gift that was turned into a cute flower.

The girls also played a balloon stomp game, went on a treasure hunt to find their treat bags and guessed how many candies were in special jars. Prizes were given to the closest and the farthest.

Lake Tahoe March 8 - 13th, 2009

We love it becuase we know if we come mid-week there won't be any crowds and once again . . . we were right! This year we had two day of skiing at Kirkwood.

This night the group went out to dinner at Chevy's. We discovered $3 appetizers during Happy Hour so we enjoyed the bargain and came back again later on in the week.
Eric's back went out so "Chiropractor" Brian tried his best to help out his buddy.
Tossing the ball in the streets is always good for a little R & R.

It's always sad to pack up and head for home -- the 9-10 hour drive seems to take longer than on the way up. We've been coming up to Lake Tahoe now for 17 years -- amazing

Visiting Utah Family

After the 1pm sealing in Manti and pictures and visiting took place on the temple grounds, we drove 1 1/2 hours up to Springville and stayed the night with the Crooks and Harrison's. This gave us CA drivers a few more hours to visit with our Utah family. Harrison's hosted a dinner and everyone came. We got to meet new additions to the family as well as visit with one another. We left Saturday around 9:30 am waiting for the roads to dry up and get plowed as Southern Utah got 6 inches.

My neice, Sandie & Mathew were sealed in the Manti Temple. My Mom and sisters, Della, Mary Alice, Carolyn and I all drove up yesterday and spent the night in St. George. We got up at 5pm to make the 3 hour trip up to Manti and came acrossed some pretty icy & scarry round around Cedar City. We made it in time to do a session before the sealing and then got a chance to see meet Mathew in the hallway and then found Sandie & Diane in the bride's room before the ceremony. It was bitter cold and a stressful drive with a trip that was always "weather permitting" but it was so worth it all to see this happy couple sealed.

In the visitors center there were these framed pictures of some of the rooms in the temple and I took pictures of them with my camera. Pretty good hun? I loved being in this temple -- build in 1888 -- it took 11 years to build. Amazing!!!

My nephew Ryan plays on the BYU Rugby team and they had a two-day tournament in Del Mar. Eric, Jason, Grandma Moore (my mom) and I went down on Thursday to watch him play. What a crazy game!!!! They won which made seeing Ryan even better!

Eric brought down Megan, Brandon and Madison on Friday to see the game. It was freezing cold (well, cold for us CA people) and even rained on them. Ryan had some free time after the game so Eric took them to go get in So CA favorite meal -- Inn-N-Out!

Girl Trip to Thatcher, AZ 1-6 thru 1-9-2009

While the kids were on winter break, we decided at the last minute to go do a road trip to Thatcher to check out the college. So, I took the girls and we drove 9 hours to the southeastern part of the state of Arizona. We stayed with Eric's cousins Babette & Roger Daley. They have a converted apartment that their teenage daughters stay in behind their house and they let us stay there and sleep in their beds. (Isn't it decorated cute??) Thanks girls for letting us be so comfy in your beds! Madison called it our Hotel! Babette spoiled us rotten -- she's an amazing cook and we loved hanging out while checking out the campus and community.

Eastern Arizona! The clock tower was recently dedicated to President Eyring's father who was a renouned scientist and graduated from EA. My mom recently told me that we have ancestors who settled in Pima -- which is just a few miles away. It is also the area that President Monson announced in conference would be getting a new temple - Gila (pronounced Hela) Valley.

So exciting!!

Congratulations Dani & Bryce - he proposed to Dani while we were here so we got to see the ring. It was fun to getting to know the both of them better! "Shoooooooooooot" is one of Bryce's favorite expressions we got a kick out of hearing him say.

Rocki and Madison had a great time together. Eventhough everyone had to go to school we looked forward to when they got home. They spend hours in Rocki's room .

Megan and 12 year old Chad spent a lot of time wrestling. Chad had some major moves that got the best of Megan. He was able to pick her up and flip her onto the giant lovesac.

Watch out though . . . he pinches!

Here is Bri and Megan. They possibly could be roommates out in apartment next year IF it all works out. They live so close to campus it would be wonderful.

We had a productive visit as we met with the Dean of Students, toured the campus, Megan took some placement tests, met with the Director of the Institute program, applied and checked into some off-campus housing (as a back-up plan).

She could be going to EA! It's a lot warmer than Idaho!

Santa Clause

I got Mom's Santa that Grandma Babe painted for her when Mom moved into her apartment. I've been wanting to get it framed but figured it would be expensive. Della suggested covering the old wood with fabric. (She's so cleaver!!) So, I headed to Walmart today to look for possible fabrics keeping in mind the bright limeish green Grandma Babe choose for the background. (I should have taken a better "before" picture!)

I am so excited with how it turned out. It cost me $12 to cover it including the quilt batting.

The corners didn't quite turn out like I wanted so I made some fabric bands for all the corners. Everything is stapled on. (Grandma Babe loved the invention of staple guns!)

Tada! Santa is now over the fireplace just like he was when I was a kid! (I just noticed the date stamp on my picture - 12/11 the date we celebrated Dad's bithday! How fitting I get the bee in my bonnet to do this today in honor of his step mother!) As I was working on this project and tearing off the layers of foil paper and exposed the rough bare wood she used, I couldn't help feel close to her as she made the frame herself!! What an amazing woman!

Jason earned MVP lineman at his football banquet. We were so excited for him as out of the 26 boys, only 7 got the MVP awards! His friend Tanner received MVP for Defensive Line. The coach had some amazing things to say about Jason. It was a great experience for our family.

Says the commentator of the Toro's National Division II Soccer Final game. We think he's pretty brilliant as well -- especially since he is my nephew! My sister Della, husband Richard, two of their kids Mike and Julie along with his Aunt Mickie got to go to Tampa Florida to cheer on the team this weekend. They won their semi-final game on Friday which made them eligible for the TV aired finals today (Sunday!). We TiVo'd the game and saw as much as we could before our 1pm church and then had Mary Alice, kids & Mom join us after church to recap and see the final 3-0 score! Thanksgiving Day!

We had 27 here for dinner. We set up three tables in the front room and had a group in the kitchen who was under 16. (Does that sound better than the kid table?)

It all starts with a bird . . . (a very tasty one too!)
The buffet is open. The kids got in line first and took all the carged meat! Good thing there was another roasted breast of turkey in the roaster.

College Roommates - A Special Bond

Brenda Torsak, Sharon Kellilliki and I got together this week for a very sad occassion. Brenda's Dad passed away and Sharon came down from Utah for the funeral. The three of us haven't been together since college. Sharon lost her father just two weeks prior so now the three of us continue to live the legacy our extremely wise and insightful fathers have left us with. I know we all think we are our Daddy's little girl even to this day. Our Dads were the kind of Dad who made us all feel that way.

Not the best picture by far of us back at Ricks College (not BYU Idaho). We are out front of our Normandy Apartments (which I beleive are still standing!) Brenda lives in Ramona and we have gone camping together as families. We all try to keep in touch with annual Christmas cards at the very least! As Megan gets ready to leave for college next year, I hope she meets some amazing friends and has great roommates like I did.

We are now the proud owner of this food storage orgnizer! It retails for over $400 and we got it used for $50. (It front loads so you can keep your food in expiration order.) I received an email from a friend in our ward asking if I'd help out a friend by letting people know it was for sale. I told him sure . . . . as soon as I checked it out for myself. It has hardly been used and the people selling it were downsizing into a mobile so no garage space. (I'm sure my friend in our ward had no idea what a deal this was otherwise would have taken advantage himself!!) Eric went with me to check it out, we loaded it up and was sweet to help me figure out how to customize it for our cans. (A very tedious process for sure!!) We then had to make room in the garage. Ideally this would go in a basement but for now this is the best we can do. (Once again, no camera so this picture is taken from the internet). What a deal . . . . what a blessing!

If you would have told me 20 years ago that we would be defending marraige between a man and a woman I wouldn't have believed you. This whole experience has been UNBELIEVABLE! We have been heavily involved doing our part to protect marriage. I'm NOT a political person and seeing how the oposition has behaved during this campaign only reaffirms how much I dislike politics. But there comes a time when you have to take a stand to protect yourselves from having your rights taken away from you.

Every political commerical the opposition has come out with has been distorted and twisted with disception and lies. (Sound famaliar??) Our signs have been destroyed, graffied, stolen, we have been cursed at, objects thrown at us and we've been called intollerant and bigots. UNBELIEVABLE! Who's not being tolerant here?

Statistics have shown that grass-roots efforts previal! Being involved with our Stake Point Person has shown me every step of the effort. It's been overwhelmingly amazing! I'd love to know how many thousands of hours have been spent on protecting marriage. A battle worth fighting for!! Never before has the scriptures spoken more clearly to us about our times. How blessed we are to have a modern day prophet to lead and direct us. We have done our best to fight this battle and we hope it is a victory. Every vote counts and we need every YES vote out there!

Arrow of Light

Jason earned his Arrow of Light! Our Stake did a special ceremony that includes his crossing the bridge into Boy Scouts. Each family decorates their own plaque and Jason got a ton of compliments on his. So now we are just waiting for "Mom" to graduate from Cub Scouts as Webelo leader!! We're proud of you Jason!!! Next step . . . Eagle! Okay . . . so there's a few more steps in between!

Wicked! - What A Great Family Outing!!

For Jason's birthday, he actually missed football practice and we took the family to see Wicked. It is leaving in January so we'd figure we'd better not wait too much longer. What's crazy is that we left for Hollywood without any tickets! We tried to win the front row lottery (and of course we didn't!) and were hoping on discounted seats in the house. Luckily there were and we got $65 Orchestra seats for $45. We saved about $180 is theater fees, ticketmaster fees and discounts by taking this risk!

EVERYONE in the family enjoyed the play!! "I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER" and this family memory has been quite "POPULAR" that is sure to "DEFY GRAVITY" and will last forever!!!!

The kids have been really missing having a pet since we lost Bandit. Della has been keeping us posted when she has come across a really cool cat. Mom & I went to take Della to lunch for her birthday and we went over to the Animal Hospital to check him out. He's adorable and looks alot like Bandit. It took us 5 days to come up with a name we all agreed upon. Boomer is pretty active, (but then again Bandit was a fat cat and this is a 4 month old kitten), quite skiddish (he's lived most of his life in a cage) and thinks my candle room is one giant cat toy just for him! We all love Boomer!!

Jason's a Bronco!

Football season is offically here! We're a Charger Family, huge BYU Cougar fans, our high school mascot is Nighthawks, yet Jason is a Bronco with Jr. All American Football (very similiar to Pop Warner).

His colors are blue and gold which are the colors of our High School Rival, Vista. There are about 6 boys on their team who wear their team jerseys to school on Fridays. They get some odd looks as you would expect Nighthawk colors which are Red & Black. Of course these boys say they are switching High Schools.

He is on a team with two of his friends from church, Tanner and Justin and they are having a blast! Jason plays center and defensive tackle. He got the game MVP medal on Saturday which was very exciting! Justin plays 2nd string QB and Receiver and Tanner plays Defensive Tackle. His coach says if these three boys keep playing they will no doubt be playing varsity early on in High School. All three boys show a lot of heart and ability.

Megan took these pictures for a scrapbook assignment she had. I'll get some game photos blogged later on. (My good camera died so I'm using an old one with poor resolution until I can get it replaced).

I'm sure she won't forget this birthday! Being on a Saturday she got to take some friends, (Rachel, Rebekah & Katelynn) to see Sugarland at the LA County Fair. (Mom and Dad got to come too!). Brandon decided to start her day off my postering her inside her room. So when she woke up to being 18 she had this wall of poster in her doorway! Megan couldn't beleive he made this himself . . . but he did! What a good brother!! Madison & Jason got in on the act as while we were at the fair, they all three TP'd her room. They even wrote "I 'heart' U" on the wall with TP. Very cute -- just a little annyoing to take down at 1 am -- but then again when isn't cleaning up TP annoying???

8/13/08 First Day of School - "4 At 2"

This year we have four kids at two schools. Madison is in 4th grade and Jason is in 5th - both at Cole Canyon Elementery School. They walk or ride bikes to school and sometimes get picked up on the way home since we are out anyway getting Brandon.

Brandon and Megan are both at Murrieta Valley High School. Megan is a Senior and Brandon is a Freshman. They both go to early morning Seminary together and Megan has early release at 12:20 everyday, so she needs to find a job! Brandon gets picked up this year (after riding his bike for the past 5 years) at 2:40 so he is excited about not having bad hair due to a helmet!

Lake Tahoe - July 19-25th, 2008!

Such a fun trip to Lake Tahoe! We stayed with the Connors' in their private timeshare right on the Keys in South Lake Tahoe. We hiked, went on bike rides, paddleboated, fished off the dock, rented a boat for half day, took lots of pictures and had a blast! There are even some underwater shots! 4th of July - Stadium of Fire

We got to attend the Leishman's 4th of July BBQ although I literally was there for 20 minutes and then it was time to head to the stadium. Diane took Deb & I and dropped off my car in a good area to boogie out afterwards as to not be in horrible traffic. Then she dropped us off near the stadium and we met the Connors' who had gotten there early and reserved us seat backs as we were in the bleachers. (Thanks Marleen!) Wendy and Sandie dropped off an hour later Madison, Jason, Abby, Brenna, Janna & Jason. It worked out great to not have the kids there so long before. Sandie then went and checked Megan out of EFY (early) which saved us coming back and getting her at 6:30 a.m. Megan then got to enjoy being with the family at the Leishman's. Thanks to all the drivers who made it all work out!

This photo is taken from our seats looking toward where Debra's seats were. She is standing near the edge of the end zone with her orange seat backs. I nearly drained my cell battery as we kept calling back and forth coordinating getting our kids in the stadium.

Debra, can you see me now?? It didn't take long for the stadium to fill up -- a sold out crowd not to mention the thousands of people hanging out around the stadium. Our friends, Brian & Marleen Connors. They went to the Freedom Fair earlier in the day and I told Marleen about the neck coolers -- so we both now have them -- best $3 spent ever! Their two girls Darby & Courtney joined us as well. Jason hanging out with Darby.
The 6 parachuters and Fighter Jets added great dramatics to the show. Hey -- what's up with this? Since we were in the end-zone that automatically makes us part of the patriotic presentation. We kept saying . . . "I bet this looks cool . . . too bad we are missing it." Can you say claustrophobic??
Loved the field show more than anything else! We are so proud to be Americans!! and blessed. (Note the Red, White & Blue tarps are now being passed below us). Having so many performers on the field made it hard to fight back the tears. Awesome!!

We avoided the crowds by leaving when the fireworks started. I know we would have enjoyed them more from our seats but driving away in our car as they ended felt really good! We did stop to catch a few Kodak Moments as we passed the thousands of on-lookers outside the stadium. We now know what a Stadium of Fire experience is all about!! Too Fun!

Being A "Moore Girl" . . .

When you come from a large family it is easy to get a reputation. The Moore girl reputation was one to be proud of as our parents taught us many things and among them was to be hard working, dependable, and service oriented. My older sisters helped pave the way as they exercise these characteristics and so many more. Being the youngest I feel it has been easy for me to be blended into both generations of our family. Ruth Ann, Diane and Della have been so great to come to my aid whenever needed and stepped into "Mother" roles. They have given my children their first baths since Mom was needed taking care of Dad. I've watched my neices play with and care for my children when they were teenagers, and now they are all amazing young women and mothers. Although we all now have different last names I still take pride in knowing I'm a "Moore Girl" and that is something that will forever pull us all together. I wish this picture had all of us Moore Girls but we know how difficult it is to get us all in the same place. We hope knowing that you were missed helps if just a little.

EFY Utah Trip - June 29th - July 5th

Megan is attending EFY at Provo this week. (Brandon is attending in Santa Barbara!) I brought up Granmda Moore (my Mom) and my sister Della as well as Jason and Madison. We are staying at the Harrison's and enjoying being with all the family that lives up here. Harrison's hosted a family gathering Sunday Night just so they could see Megan before she left for EFY.

Temple Visits

Ruth Ann, Mom, Della, Debra, Diane and I got to do a session at the Provo Temple Wednesday Night. What a treat to be in the House of the Lord with family!

They are hoping this temple with it's amazing views will attract more brides and help elleviate Salt Lake Temple.

4th of July Celebrations

We went to a Colonial Display and the kids got to see how printing presses work.
This is an exact replica in size and weight of the brass plates. Joseph Smith was an amazingly strong man to be able to carry let alone run with these plates.
Gee, this gives a whole different meaning to "Time Out!"

This basket weaver shares her art. The brown basket on the table took over 14 hours to make. She said she has taught the basketweaving merit badge to scouts -- she's a saint!

Jason Does Ancestor Report for 4th Grade Open House

Jason chose TRG Welch, his Great-Great-Great Grandpa for his ancestory report. Grandma Moore helped out alot with finding stories. We searched on the internet and found actual travel logs that showed his family was on the George Washington Immigrant Ship and then joined a Mormon Wagon company. Jason loved getting to know him better and reading of his lifestyle.

This is Mean's 2nd year being in dance at the school. It was fun to watch the production this year as she danced in

5 of the numbers.

She tried to pick the most modest of the

costumes which wasn't easy. She choreographed a dance with the two girls on the far right (Chelsea Dransfield and Chelsea Arnold - both friends from church). Their dance was so good it was picked to be in the production!

Eric surprised my with two tickes to Stagecoach - a huge 3-day country western outdoor concert in Indio. He & I drove out Friday night and listened to Trisha Yearwood, Dan Fogerty and the Eagles. We got home at 1:30 AM - with a tour hour drive each way.

Brian Connors scored 4 tickets for Saturday so with our 2, we were able to take both families as kids under 14 got in for free. (Brandon's birthday is the 29th so he barely made it.) We drove out again and got to see Bucky Covington (former American Idol), Taylor Swift, Dierks Bently, The Judds, and Rascal Flats. Sunday's line-up was even better (Carrie Underwood, Big & Rich, Tim McGraw) but we were good kids and went to church.

Enjoy our pictures! Brian & Marleen bought me a hat for my birhtday! Guess that means more Country concerts are in the future for me!!

Our AMAZING Cruise!!

We just had an amazing time! These pictures are just a few highlights. I think between Megan & I we took over 700 photos. 7 days of non-stop fun! Parasailing in Cabo, Horseback riding in Mazatlan and Canopy (zip line) in Puerta Vallarta. An overabundance of food was available on the ship and Brandon is proud of the 8 pounds he gained. The kids went to the ice cream shop several times a day. I personally miss my made-to-order Banana's Foster Waffles with whipped cream. The only thing to make it better would be to have our friends and family on board!!

Just one of the 14 zip lines we sailed on. We had such a fun trip I am coming again March 22 -- with Eric and the kids. This time we will be sailing with Holland America out of San Diego (as they honor my Marriott Rewards points). The kids are excited that we are going to all cruise as a family!! My True Love Gave To Me???????????

Christmas is just around the corner and I've had an easy way to know just exactly how many days until the Jolly Old Man makes his annual appearance to put presents under our tree. How you might ask? Well, My True Love (yes, that would be Eric!) is doing the 12 days of Christmas for me. Every day I've had a present delivered to me with the kids singing the verse for that day of the song. It has been very cute and has made me feel very appreciated during a stressful time of year when the TODO list is never ending. So here's a SHOUT OUT to my man for making his wife feel special!!!

If I were more on the ball, I'd post a picture of all the amazingly wrapped presents (yes, he has a helper outside of my children and man can she make bows!!) I've received things like: bath and body products, a wallet, sleep socks (sooooooooooo soft!), pretty stationery, lotions, etc. A clue is left on the package like, "On the 1st Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me some shimmer and relaxation." Inside the package would be bubble bath and shimmer body lotion. Too fun!!!

The BYU vs SDSU game was a blast! We brought the trailer down and tailgated with about 35 friends. We got rained on during tailgating so we were thankful to have shelter to run to. Another friend brought up their RV. We had great seats - 40 yard line 19 rows up. Not bad for $10 seats!! Sa-weeettttt!

Eric got a "Golden Ticket" and was able to be on the field for the entire game helping out our Bishop as he films all the away games with his sons. Very cool job!! You couldn't wipe this expression off Eric's face -- a dream come true!

We made a quick weekend trip to Mesa to attend Eric's cousin Larry's son's wedding. We took Grandma Minnie out with us so she could spend some time with her kids Jim & Wanda.

Halloween 2007

Madison had three occassions to wear her costume this year. In honor of "Wicked" she decided to be Elpheba. Thankfully we found green thermals to cover her legs and arms and a little green make-up went a long way! The witch costume was in the Halloween box -- very affordable!!
Megan was Snow White (eventhough Cinderella is her favorite!) and is the only one who got a "new costume". Brandon repeated being a Prisoner -- does the costume look famaliar Ruth Ann? Jason was a pirate and Maddie didn't mess with the green makeup for Trick or Treating.

Jason is excited to be 10! Happy Birthday to him today - Sunday, October 14th. We celebrated it at Mulligan's Family Fun Center on Friday afternoon. Dad took him and three friends along with Brandon and Megan and Madison joined them later. They had a blast playing laser tag, go-carts, rock wall and miniature golf.

General Conference - Camping Style

We've made camping at Silent Valley a tradition for General Conference. Since we have a dish we can dial up BYU TV and since we have no distractions, we do watch all four sessions. This time we had the Miller's, Pomar's, and the Prossers' come up and join us. This was the Prosser's first time up and boy were we glad they came. Their giant RV had 4 tv's! Although they did not have a dish, so Eric figured out a way to splice our line and ran 100' of cabel to their rig which became known as "The Conference Center" and our trailer became known as the "Assembly Hall". You had to have an adult ticket to get into the conference center!

A Wicked Day for Megan!

Thursday, Sept. 20th was minimum days for Megan & Emily so we took them to see Wicked in Hollywood. It was an amazing clear day for LA.

So fun! Such a good production!! Now we want to come again and bring the rest of the family. (Yes, that would make three times for me!) Maybe Santa will be bring them in our stockings!!
